CRA compliance software: compare the options

Compare CRA software, enterprise platforms, labs and engineering services. See dated sources, transparent scope and the right model for your team.

CRA compliance software helps manufacturers collect evidence, manage requirements and track product-security work. The important buying question is which tasks the software performs, which decisions remain with your team and whether engineering help is included.

Compare service models before headline prices

A software subscription, an engineering engagement and a conformity assessment are different purchases. A lower monthly software price does not establish a lower total implementation cost, and an engineering retainer does not replace a statutory assessment. Ask each supplier which product boundary, supported versions, evidence and continuing duties its quote covers. Record the assumptions so the comparison can be checked.

The dated landscape below separates verified vendor prices from figures in the original brief that could not be confirmed. Published prices can change. Confirm billing cadence, minimum commitment, per-product limits and whether VAT is included. A tool that generates an export may still require your team to review every finding and approve each conformity decision.

When DIY software is a good fit

Choose a software-led route when your team already owns product security and has time to maintain the evidence. Repository analysis, requirement mapping and reporting workflows can reduce repetitive work. A team with an experienced internal owner may prefer direct control over every tool and decision. Ask for a representative product trial and inspect the evidence quality, export format and release history.

When an enterprise platform is a good fit

A large manufacturer may need portfolio aggregation, complex integrations, strict access controls and established security operations. Finite State and ONEKEY address enterprise product-security use cases. A custom quote can be appropriate when the scope depends on many products and systems. Evaluate those capabilities against your actual procurement needs rather than assuming a small-team service is always the better choice.

When engineering help is the missing part

A smaller team may have a scanner but no time to decide applicability, prepare the technical file or help remediate code. Roja combines the platform with engineers who work with the customer. Assessment and implementation have defined scopes, while Monitor covers ongoing vulnerability work and reporting drafts. The manufacturer still reviews, submits reports and signs the declaration. Our service does not provide certification, legal opinions or penetration testing.

Labs and conformity bodies complement the work

Use an appropriate lab for testing and a suitably designated body for the conformity route that requires it. Check designation, accreditation and product scope directly. A lab’s report may support the technical evidence, but it does not automatically maintain release inventories or monitor new vulnerabilities. Plan the handover between the engineering team, lab and conformity reviewer early enough to avoid conflicting product versions.

Questions to put in every quote request

Ask who generates and validates the SBOM, who triages a finding, who prepares the report and who submits it. Ask which documents are included and whether remediation hours are capped. Request a description of data access, hosting, retention and deletion. Clarify response coverage, support periods and what happens to records at the end of the engagement. Finally, ask how the quote changes when a new product family or supported branch is added.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a substitute for a product-specific assessment?

No. Use the guide to organise the engineering work. The product boundary, applicable legal interpretation and conformity route need a documented review.

Does a small team still need a process?

Yes. Assign a product owner, incident contact and substitute. The micro and small enterprise fine exception for 24-hour early warnings does not remove the duties.

Can Roja help with the practical work?

Yes. Our engineers validate inventory, triage findings, prepare reporting drafts and help build the technical evidence. The manufacturer reviews and remains accountable.

Where should we check the requirements?

Start with Regulation (EU) 2024/2847 on EUR-Lex and ENISA guidance for the Single Reporting Platform. Check the current text and your product facts before making a decision.
